About Abu Dhabi Sustainable Finance Forum

Theme: The Path to COP28, UAE

Introduction: As we look forward to a pivotal COP28 in the UAE, the financial sector is increasingly focusing on implementing systems to unleash the trillions of dollars in private finance needed to unlock critical infrastructure investment, to power us towards the UAE’s net zero targets by the middle of the century.

The UAE’s financial sector is committed to assisting the country’s delivery of its national climate goals and programmes, notably the Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative, the first-ever net zero target in the Middle East and North African (MENA) region.

Returning to an in-person format, the fifth edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainable Finance Forum (ADSFF) will convene top global institutional investors, Government leaders, regulators, and financial institutions to discuss areas of collaboration that aim to increase the flow of capital toward sustainable investment and hold discussions on action points and practical agendas that lead to sustainable outcomes for the financial industry of the UAE to focus on.

ADSFF is a flagship initiative by Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), the International Financial Centre located in the capital city of the UAE. ADSFF is a part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week and will be held during the week-long event. As hosts of the event, ADGM will bring back focus on and encourage sustainable practices for businesses and stakeholders in its vibrant ecosystem while also adopting these practices for itself.

Sub Themes:

  1. Nature-Based Solutions: Abu Dhabi is emerging as a central commercialisation hub for nature-based carbon credits. ADSFF will explore expanded government engagement, carbon supply and carbon market dimensions.
  2. Sustainable Finance Co-operation: As the worlds leading financial institutions make transformational changes to their business strategy to deliver on climate targets and commitments, ADSFF will explore the collaborative networks and trackers forming around capital markets.
  3. Implementing Sustainable Transactions & Products: How are financial products evolving to track evolving stakeholder needs in sustainability? ADSFF will explore the specifics.
  4. New Methods of Impact Finance: What does the intersection of innovation, sustainability and finance look like? ADSFF will bring together the start-ups, accelerators and platforms driving change that matters.
